A genuinely well-built visual bot maker with a smart GPT-plus-flows hybrid, but it is priced for funded teams and its WhatsApp tier gets expensive fast once Meta fees and metered overages land.

Best for: Marketing and lead-gen teams that want a polished, design-led web or WhatsApp bot and can absorb per-conversation pricing. · From: Free Sandbox (100 chats/mo); paid from ~€40/$45/mo, WhatsApp from ~€200/$220/mo

Pros

  • + Best-in-class drag-and-drop visual builder with instant desktop/mobile preview and keyboard shortcuts
  • + AI Agents blend GPT reasoning with rule-based flows, trained on your website URLs and uploaded docs
  • + Genuine multichannel: web widget, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger from one build
  • + Solid native integrations (HubSpot, Airtable, Calendly, Google Sheets) plus Zapier/Make and webhooks

Cons

  • WhatsApp plans start around $220/mo, before Meta's own per-conversation fees stack on top
  • Chats and AI chats are metered separately, so overages can quietly double the headline price
  • Knowledge base is text-only (ignores images/graphics); no Instagram or Telegram channels
  • The 'no-code' promise breaks at webhooks and custom API calls, where non-technical users get stuck

Setup

Landbot's calling card is its builder. You drag blocks onto a canvas, wire them together with arrows, and watch the flow take shape with live desktop and mobile preview. A non-technical user can ship a working web bot in an afternoon, and templates cover the usual lead-gen, FAQ, and booking cases. The curve stays gentle until you reach branching logic, variables, and formulas — powerful, but exactly where the "no-code" promise starts to fray. Putting a bot on your site is a copy-paste snippet.

The AI / automation

The newer AI Agents layer sits on top of the classic rule-based flows. You point an agent at your website URLs and uploaded documents, and it answers in natural language using GPT-style reasoning, then hands off to structured flows when it needs to collect data or trigger an action. It is a genuinely useful hybrid: deterministic where you want control, generative where you want coverage. Two catches — the knowledge base is text-only, so anything living in images, screenshots, or graphics is invisible to it, and AI chats run on a separate meter from regular chats.

Pricing

The free Sandbox gives you 100 chats/month, one seat, and limited integrations — fine for kicking the tires, not for production. Paid web/Messenger plans start at Starter (€40/$45/mo: 500 chats, 100 AI chats, 2 seats) and climb through Pro (€100/$110) to Business (€400+). WhatsApp is the expensive door: WhatsApp Pro starts around €200/$220/mo, and that is before Meta's own per-conversation fees, which Landbot passes straight through. Two separate meters — regular chats (€0.05 each over cap) and AI chats (€0.10 each) — mean overages can quietly inflate the bill. Annual billing knocks roughly 20% off.

Free / cheaper alternatives

If budget is the constraint, plenty of tools undercut Landbot. Typebot is open-source and self-hostable — near-free if you run it yourself, and visually similar. ManyChat starts around $15/mo and, unlike Landbot, handles Instagram DMs alongside WhatsApp and Messenger. Voiceflow has a free tier aimed squarely at AI agents. Chatbase and similar "chat-with-your-docs" tools are cheaper if all you want is an AI knowledge bot rather than a visual flow. Tidio offers a free plan pairing live chat with bots for smaller sites.

Verdict

Landbot is one of the best-built visual bot makers on the market, and the GPT-plus-flows hybrid is a real strength. But it is priced for funded marketing teams, and the WhatsApp tier gets expensive fast once Meta fees and dual-metered overages land. Great if design quality and multichannel matter more than cost; skip it if you just want a cheap FAQ bot.
